572AD. Theodoric became king of Bernica at the death of his father Ida and his three brothers, Glappa, Adda, and Aethelric.

His kingdom was Bernicia from north of the river Tees.

Theodoric battled with a northern alliance of Britons led by Urien of Rheged at Gwen Ystrad (Near Wensleydale) and at the Cells of Berwyn. (Rochester).

575AD.Theodorics forces were attacked by the Britons led by Urien of Rheged and besieged on the island of Lindisfarne. The siege lasted three days but neither side claimed victory.

579AD. Theodoric was again in battle against the northern alliance, This time the battle was at Argoed Llyfain (Leeming Lane, Yorkshire). He was slain in the battle by Owein of Rheged, the son of king Urien.
