758AD. Oswulf - Northumbria

758AD Oswulf became king when his father Eadberht abdicated the throne and joined the monastery at Ebrauc (York). Oswulf’s uncle was  Ecgberht the Archbishop of York, a position that held great power.

759AD. Oswulf 's reign didn't last long. In less than a year he was dead. murdered by either his servants or his bodyguards, (Possibly in a plot insigated by Aethelwald Moll) while on a visit to a small village at the foot of the East Yorkshire Wolds, called Wicstun. Today the village is a market town called Market Weighton that sits on the old Roman road known as Ermine Street, about twenty miles south of York.

Aethelwald Moll seized the throne on Oswulf's death
