930AD. Osulf Became High-Reeve of Bamburgh at the death of his father Ealdred.
The fact that Osulf Attested to many Wessex charters points to him having close connections to the English court.
954AD. Eric Blood Axe of Jorvik (York) was lured to Stainmoor in Teesdale and murdered by Maccus, who was said to be an agent of Osulf. This may have some truth as Osulf was appointed Earldorman of the whole of the Bernician lands from North of the Tyne to The forth. In the same year Northumbria lost Edinburgh when king of the Scots Indulf, son of Constantine II, seized back the city formerly lost by his father.
956AD. Ealdred the King of the English died and his fifteen year old nephew Eadwig became king.
957AD Eadwig however was not a good king and after many Thanes were wrongly stripped of the lands, Osulf sickened by the injustices joined his forces with Mercia and they rose in revolt against the king and in favour of his brother Edgar. A battle was fought at Gloucester and the army of Eadwig was beaten. However to stave off civil war an agreement was reached whereby Edgar rule England above the Thames and Eadwig's kingdom was restricted to the south were he reigned for two year before dying.
963AD. Osulf died and was succeeded by his son Waltheof.
