Glappa — Angle — Bernicia

559AD Glappa became the 2nd known ruler of the Kingdom of Bernicia. His father was King Ida, his grandfather Eopa and his Great grandfather was Oesa and that, plus the year of his death, 560AD is all that is known of Glappa.

Some sources claim that he led the Bernicians in a successful battle against the Britons, Perur and Gwrgi, of the kingdom of Ebrauc. But since the date of the battle, which took place at Caer Greu is given as 580AD which is many years after Glappa's death, for various reasons it is thought that it may have been Aelle who fought at Caer Greu and not Glappa.

560AD. Glappa died.

 559AD Adda — Angle — Bernicia

560AD Adda became the third known king of Bernicia at the death of his brother Glappa. Like his brother before him nothing is known of his reign. We can however deduce from the shortness of his reign that beset on all side by an alliance of Britons, Scots and picts, he would most likely have spent his reign in constant battle.

560AD. Adda died.

 568AD. Aethelric — Angle — Bernicia

568AD. Aethelric became the fourth king of Bernicia at the death of his brother Adda. He may have forged close ties with Deira, as his son Aethelfrith who would one day unite Bernicia and Deira as one, married Acha, the daughter of king Aelle.
King Aethelric like his brothers before him lived in bloody and fractious times and would have had to fight constantly against the surrounding Brythonic kingdoms.

572AD. Aethelric died.
