808AD. Eardwulf - (For the second time) - Northumbria
808AD. Eardwulf returned to Northumbria escorted by an envoy from the Pope, the Deacon Ealdwulf, and two envoys from Charlemagne, Hruotfrid the Abbot of St Amand, and Nantharious of St Omer. With their assistance Aelfwald II was deposed and Eardwulf was returned to his throne.
809AD their job done the envoys sent by Charlemagne and the Pope returned home.
810AD. Eardwulf died and was succeeded by his son Eanred.
