765AD. Ealchred - Northumbria
 

765AD. Ealchred (Alhred, the son-in-law of Oswulf) was placed on the throne when Aethelwald Moll was deposed.

768AD. Ealchred married Princess Osgyfu, either the daughter of Oswulf, grandaughter of Eadberht, or Eadberht's daughter.

769AD. According to Symeon of Durham, "Caterick was burned by the Tyrant Eanred, and by the judgement of God, he himself miserably perished by fire in the same year".

770AD. Ealchred called for a synod and St Willehad was sent to Frisia as a missionary.

773AD. An approach was made to King Charlemagne of the Franks with a view to friendship between the two kingdoms

774AD. At easter time Ealchred was expelled and driven from York. He travelled north with a few companions, first to Bamburgh and from there sailed to the kingdom of Cynoht King of the Picts.

His throne went to Eleven year old Aethelred I, son of Aethelwald Moll.
