656AD. Alchfrith - Deira

656AD. Alchfrith the son of Oswiu became sub king of Deira.
 
663AD. Alchfrith was invited to accompany Wilfrid to Rome, but Oswiu vetoed the idea.

664 Alchfrith supported Wilfrid against his father in the Synod of Whitby. Alchfrith last act was to send Wilfrid to Gaul to be consecrated, after that he disappeared from the records. It was thought that he may have attempted to overthrow his father and had been killed in the attempt.
