841AD. Aethelred II came the throne for the first time at the death of his father King Eanred.

 

844AD.Aethelred reigned for only three years and then was deposed when  Raedwulf usurped the throne.
 
 
 
844AD. Raedwulf - Northumbria
 

 

844AD. Raedwulf siezed the throne of Northumbria from Aethelred II. His reign however, did not last long. Within a few months of taking power, he and most of his nobles were killed as they fought off a major attack by Viking raiders.

844AD. Aethelred II was restored to the throne after Raedwulf was killed by Viking raiders .
 
846AD. Aethelred II sent a force of men north to assist the Picts in their fight against the invading Scots.

 

848AD. Aethelred II was assassinated by or on the order of Osbeorht, who then took the throne.
