774AD. Aethelred I - Northumbria

 

774AD. Aethelred I, the eleven year old son of Aethelwald Moll, came to the throne when Ealchred was exiled.

775AD. Aethelred I, had Duke Eadwif Killed.

From the writings of Simeon of Durham, “Duke Eadwif, taken by cunning treachery, was in a short space of time killed, burried and forgotten.

778AD. Aethelred I, was at it again, this time an entry from ‘The Anglo Saxon Chronicle’ from 778. “This year Ethelbald and Herbert slew three high sheriffs - Edulf the son of Bosa, at Coniscliff, Cynewulf and Eggo at Helathyn”.

779AD. Aelfwald banished Aethelred I, from the kingdom and took the throne himself.

Aethelred continued to live in exile during the reigns of the next two kings Aelfwald and Osred ll.
